Matrimonial and Family Law

At the McNamee Law Firm, our matrimonial attorneys are active in negotiating and litigating divorce, separation, premarital agreements, property divisions, child support, spousal support, custody and adoption. They combine extensive experience with the personal sensitivity necessary in these matters

The Matrimonial and Family Law Department is chaired by Bruce J. Wagner, who has over 20 years of experience in matrimonial matters. Mr. Wagner is a Certified Fellow of both the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. From January 2005 to January 2007, Mr. Wagner served as President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New York Chapter. He has been listed in the 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2006, 2007 and 2008 editions of The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Wagner has served as a statewide co-chair of all Continuing Legal Education for the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section since June 2000, and has served annually since 1997 as a faculty member of the New York State Office of Court Administration Judicial Seminars. In addition to having extensive experience in the preparation of pre-nuptial agreements, and in the negotiation and litigation of matrimonial matters, Mr. Wagner has an active statewide appellate practice. Having first been elected in 2002, Mr. Wagner is in his second term as a Town Justice for the Town of Schodack, Rensselaer County, and regularly serves as an Acting City Court Judge in the City Courts of Troy, Albany, Rensselaer, Hudson and Cohoes. He has also served as a Faculty Member for Continuing Judicial Education programs for Town and Village Justices since 2005. In January 2008, Mr. Wagner was elected Vice Chair of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and as Vice President of the Rensselaer County Magistrates Association.

Michelle L. Haskin's active practice encompasses over 11 years of experience in all aspects of divorce and separation, as well as practice in Family Court custody, support and domestic violence cases. Ms. Haskin is a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. She is also President-Elect of the Capital District Women's Bar Association and is a member of the Honorary Board of The Legal Project, Inc.

Lydia Law, prior to joining the McNamee law firm, practiced exclusively in matrimonial and family law with another well-known Capital District firm and has experience in all aspects of the negotiation and litigation of domestic relations matters. Ms. Law has also worked in the legal counsel offices of two different New York State agencies. Attorney Law graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and is a cum laude degree recipient of the University at Albany. Ms. Law serves as the 2nd Vice President of the Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital District Women's Bar Association.

In addition to the foregoing, the Matrimonial and Family Law Department has Paralegal Assistants and staff who combine many years of experience with the ability to deal with the complex and sensitive issues of divorce, separation, custody and support.

Our matrimonial attorneys are not only experienced negotiators and litigators, but they are also knowledgeable in other areas that are incident to an economically fair divorce. The breadth and depth of practice areas served by the McNamee Law Firm enables our family law attorneys to draw upon the knowledge of other attorneys within the Firm, whenever estate and business issues become extraordinarily complex. Specifically, our Family Law practice is enhanced by attorneys and Certified Public Accountants within the firm, who lend assistance in the areas of Real Estate, Estate Planning, and Corporate/Taxation.
