Mr. Wagner joined the firm in 1987 and has been a principal since 1994. Mr. Wagner received his J.D. degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1985, and his A.B. degree from Cornell University in 1982. He has served as a statewide co-chair of all Continuing Legal Education for the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association since 2000, and was elected Vice Chair of the Family Law Section in January 2008. He is a frequent lecturer and author for continuing legal education programs sponsored by the New York State Office of Court Administration and the New York State Judicial Institute (Judicial Seminars), American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the New York State Bar Association, and county bar associations throughout New York State. Mr. Wagner is a Certified Fellow of both the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. From January 2005 to January 2007, he served as President of the 165 member American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New York Chapter. Mr. Wagner is listed in the 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 editions of The Best Lawyers in America. Appointed in September 2002, elected in November 2002 and re-elected in November 2006, Mr. Wagner is a Town Justice in the Town of Schodack, Rensselaer County. By designation of the Administrative Judge, Mr. Wagner presides on an interim basis as an Acting City Court Judge of the City Courts of Albany, Troy, Rensselaer, Hudson and Cohoes. He has also served since 2005 as a Faculty Member for Continuing Judicial Education for Town and Village Justices. In January 2008, Mr. Wagner was elected as Vice President of the Rensselaer County Magistrates Association.
Mr. Wagner, who chairs the firm’s Matrimonial and Family Law Department, practices exclusively in the field of matrimonial and family law, and represents clients in the negotiation and litigation of pre-nuptial agreements, separation and divorce. He also has a successful statewide appellate practice before the Appellate Divisions and the New York Court of Appeals. Mr. Wagner is also admitted to practice law in Massachusetts.
