Mr. Thornton joined the firm in 1970 and has been a principal since 1975. He is Chairman of the firm's Trusts and Estates Department. Mr. Thornton received his J.D. degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1970, where he was an editor of the Albany Law Review and an A.B. degree from Union College in 1967. Mr. Thornton is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, former chair of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, former chair of that's section's committee on legislation and former editor of that section's newsletter. Mr. Thornton has been named in The Best Lawyers in America since 1989, and is listed in the International Who's Who of Professionals.
