Mr. Privitera joined the firm in 1991 and has been a principal since 1993. He is chair of the firm's Environmental Department. Mr. Privitera received a J.D. degree in 1977 and a B.A. degree in 1974 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. From 1978 to 1986, Mr. Privitera was engaged in private litigation practice in Washington, D.C. From 1986 to 1991, he served as Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Bureau of the New York State Department of Law. He is a frequent author and public speaker on environmental law, land use and regulatory matters. Mr. Privitera is an officer of the Real Property Law Section and serves on the Executive Committee of the Environmental Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Mr. Privitera's practice is active in all areas of environmental law including land use, environmental litigation, enforcement, citizen suits, regulatory affairs, compliance matters and hazardous wastes. He provides advice regarding the environmental aspects of business transactions and energy matters. Mr. Privitera is also admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.
