Mr. Gellhaus joined the firm in 1988 and has been a principal since 1995. Mr. Gellhaus received a J.D. degree, cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University in 1986 and a B.S. degree from State University of New York at Binghamton in 1983. He was an executive editor of the Albany Law Review while at Albany Law School. Mr. Gellhaus has published articles in the Albany Law Review and The Consumer Law Quarterly. He is a member of the Albany County and New York State Bar Associations.
Mr. Gellhaus practices in the areas of creditors rights, commercial litigation and banking law compliance. He has represented creditors in all phases of debt collection, from prejudgment attachment and replevin procedures to all manner of enforcement of money judgments through property executions and installment payment orders. Mr. Gellhaus currently supervises an 11-member staff that collects consumer and commercial debts with the aid of a highly sophisticated computer software program. The computer program tracks accounting for client funds collected, prepares legal pleadings, and provides a comprehensive follow-up system to monitor its more than 8,000 files.
Mr. Gellhaus is the current president of the HUBNET Users Group, a 270-member affiliation of law firms and collection companies using the Collection Partner software of Jim Hubbard & Associates, Inc.
