Mr. Doherty practices in the area of employment and labor law. He represents management in all aspects of this field, with particular emphasis on employment discrimination, sexual harassment, non-competition and wrongful discharge litigation, union organizing campaigns, unfair labor practices, collective bargaining and arbitration. He has successfully litigated a variety of employment and labor law matters in state and federal courts, and before state and federal administrative agencies. Mr. Doherty's practice includes advising clients on the implementation of employment policies and practices in an effort to avoid litigation.

Mr. Doherty is a frequent lecturer on a wide variety of employment and labor law topics for various management and bar association groups. He is a member of the New York Management Attorneys Conference, and is the author of Employment and Labor Law Review, a monthly article published by the Albany County Bar Association. Mr. Doherty is a member of the Albany County Bar Association's Board of Directors, a trustee of the La Salle School, and is a member of the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Doherty joined the firm as a principal in 2003. Mr. Doherty received a Doctor of Law degree from Cornell Law School in 1989, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1986. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Doherty practiced with Bond, Schoeneck & King and DeGraff, Foy, Holt-Harris & Kunz.
