Henry "Neal" Conolly joined the firm in 2007. Mr. Conolly's areas of concentration are corporate litigation and insurance transactions and insolvency, reinsurance, insurance carrier runoff, litigation and insurance management organization issues, and insurance company rehabilitation.

Mr. Conolly's experience includes being General Counsel for 17 years for Sofco-Mead, Inc. and being involved with the insurance industry. He was an AAA Commercial Arbitrator, an administrator for Frontier Insurance Company in Rehabilitation, and was CEO and executive director over the New York State Insurance Fund. He was retained to study and report regarding the California State Insurance Compensation Fund and the North Dakota WSI state insurance fund. He also served as an insurance company rehabilitation manager and counsel.

Mr. Conolly is admitted to practice law in Maryland (1978), New York (1979), and Florida (1980).

Significant Cases

  • Mills v Everest, 410 F.Supp.2d 243, No. 05 Civ.8928 CM. [SDNY White Plains, Hon. Colleen McMahon] Jan. 23, 2006. Mr. Conolly, as special counsel, successfully argued that the Court should sustain fraudulent conveyance allegations made under state law in the US District Court in a $35 million complaint. The action had been filed by the Court appointed Rehabilitator of an insolvent insurance carrier. The case involves issues of solvency and accounting treatment under FASB for a finite reinsurance contract.

  • Galli v. Metz, 973 F.2d 145 (2d Cir. 1992).
    Mr. Conolly as trial and appeals counsel obtained the affirmance of a sellers' trial judgment for more than $2.2 million in the US Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. The decision is often cited with respect to the issue of post contract waiver of contractual indemnities made by a seller, in this case in the sale of a petroleum distribution business, under NY contract common law.
