Judge Leonard Weiss joined the firm in 1994 as Special Counsel. He practices in the areas of government relations and significant commercial matters. Concentrating on alternate dispute resolution, he is a mediator and arbitrator. In addition, he is a judicial hearing officer for the New York State Supreme Court.

In 1977, Mayor Erastus Corning II appointed him as a Justice of the City Court of Albany and that same year Judge Weiss was elected to a full term as the nominee of all four major political parties. In 1978 he was elected as Justice of the Supreme Court as a candidate of all political parties. In 1981, Governor Hugh L. Carey designated Judge Weiss to serve on the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, Third Department. Three years later, Governor Mario M. Cuomo appointed Judge Weiss as an Associate Justice. In 1992, Governor Cuomo appointed Judge Weiss the Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, Third Department. Judge Weiss was elected as Chairman of the Albany County Democratic Committee in 1994, and retired from the Court.

In 1998, Gov. George Pataki appointed Judge Weiss to a term as commissioner on the New York State Public Service Commission.

Judge Weiss has been appointed to serve in Supreme Courts as a judicial hearing officer.

Judge Weiss is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York.
