Appellate Practice

Time-intensive and detail-oriented, appeals require specific knowledge. Our appellate practice includes appeals referred to us by attorneys outside of the firm who acted as trial counsel as well as appeals where McNamee acted as trial counsel.

McNamee’s appellate practice covers a broad range of subject areas including challenges to State and local statutes and regulations, personal injury actions, civil litigation and commercial disputes, First Amendment and media defense, mortgage foreclosures, labor and employment law, real estate litigation, business dissolution proceedings, matrimonial and family law, and trusts and estates litigation.

A number of the attorneys at McNamee began their careers as law clerks in appellate courts and have brought the experience gained from their clerkships to their professional practice. The firm has been lead counsel in numerous significant cases appearing in the state and federal appellate case reporters.

Our firm represents clients in all phases of litigation in New York’s state and federal appellate courts, including motion practice, perfection of appeals, and argument of appeals. The firm has extensive experience appearing in all four departments of the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court, the New York Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
